Sentimental Dolphin


it usually hits me in the middle of the day

a light so strong it sits me down and shows me the display

of painted pewter figurines

and the joy that i had there

all alone i'd sit there painting

without a worry or a care 


i want it all and all at once a celebrating plate

of four fresh mains and side dishes let's not forget the cake

i'll have it first and eat it too

my loose fitting pants i'll wear

but in the presence of this company

i can't seem to find my chair 


my cigarette is smoking me i've lost most my control

of self and almost anyone can find the seventh fold

but the eight one can be tricky

only certain men have strength

to bend where there's no bending

lord knows i've tried at length
